What is it?
The EVCA Foundation Course for Investment Professionals is a three-day training programme designed for
early-career practitioners. The modules of this course have been specifically designed to offer participants an
overview and a broad understanding of the different milestones and processes in private equity investment.
The course offers two parallel tracks*, one for buyout and one for venture capital. This allows participants to
align the programme with the segment they are working in. The venture capital track module focuses on some of
the situations faced by professionals investing in seed, start-up and development capital while the buyout session
focuses on the challenges met by professionals investing in more established businesses.
The Foundation Course for Investment Professionals looks at:
- The due diligence process
- Intellectual property rights
- Legal aspects of private equity
- Valuation of portfolio companies
- Pricing and structuring of deals
- Creating value and managing growth
- Divestments
- Lessons Learned
Professor Dan Muzyka, Dean of the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia (Canada)
presents case studies which are discussed in a working session.
*Participants are invited to indicate whether they would prefer to attend the buyout course or the venture
capital course on the application form.
